Two intense months; well worth it to build the core skills you need to feel confident analyzing your own omics data.
Work at your own pace within the 2 months. We provide a recommended study schedule, but the microcredential is designed precisely to fit around yours.
Once you complete the course, you'll receive an official certificate from the University of Alcalá (UAH) worth 5 ECTS credits.
To complete your pre-registration, fill in the web form. Once we receive your details, we'll get in touch to send you the documentation and arrange the first pre-registration payment (€80) via bank transfer.

Start by filling in the form below. Once we receive your details, we'll reach out to arrange payment and ask you to submit the necessary documentation.

You'll access the course materials through the UAH Virtual Campus and have two months to complete it. During that time, we'll provide feedback on your submissions and be available to answer any questions.

Complete the course and receive an official certificate from the University of Alcalá, worth 5 ECTS credits. You have to pay for the UAH certificate, but the EUROPASS certificate (valid across Europe) is free.
In our bioinformatics microcredential, you'll gain the confidence to independently analyze the main types of omics data.
Starting from scratch (yes, even if you've never heard of R), across 7 units — each with its own hands-on exercise — you'll learn the basics of programming applied to bioinformatics, along with data tidying, visualization, and interpretation.
And to put everything into practice, for your final project you'll build a full bioinformatic analysis workflow in R, using your own omics data or a dataset we provide. Your choice.
You'll learn to work with the most widely used languages in bioinformatics to automate tasks, process data, and generate visualizations. Starting from zero, with examples applied to biological analysis, you'll build the confidence to work in real-world environments.
You'll get familiar with the main types of omics data and the tools needed to analyze them. Working from an example dataset, you'll learn how to preprocess your data and practice the standard workflow for differential expression analysis.
Once you've built confidence in R and have a better grasp of your data, comes the best part: making sense of it. You'll learn to visualize your data using two of the most common plots in bioinformatics: heatmaps and volcano plots. We'll also walk you through tools to contextualize your gene or protein lists, helping you uncover which biological processes, molecular functions, and pathways are enriched in your data.
To enroll, you must be a graduate or current student in Life Sciences, with at least 180 ECTS credits completed, and having passed Genetics or Molecular Biology. The course is in Spanish, so although we don't formally request any language certificates, you should feel confident learning the course content in Spanish. That's it!

Choose your course, complete it at your own pace, and get certified.
You'll receive the course materials at the email address you provide at checkout. Once you've completed it (at your own pace, with no time limit), submit your assessment exercise. We'll grade it and send it back with feedback, along with your certificate. And if you have any questions along the way, just drop us a message and we'll help you out.
